So, I went to Thai Smile 5 for the first time in a few months (I kept trying to go, they were either renovating or closed because I tend to want Thai on Sunday), and it looks like the folks in charge have been very busy. Not only did they redo the interior to make it a little more Thai-inspired rather than an old Mexican restaurant, they've also redone the menu.
All the Thai standbys appear to be there, but they've also added some interesting additions, such as a charcoal grill menu, an intriguing duck-based menu, and some interesting specials (panang curry pad thai, salmon cubes in sweet spicy chili sauce with mixed vegetables). So far, from what I've been able to see from my few minutes of browsing the new menu, they've added a lot of new stuff to the old reliable, and everything I had tasted fresh and delicious (fresh hand-shredded basil, fresh vegetables, big chunks of crispy stir-fried onions, etc.).
I don't know if they're changing things up for a reason, have new ownership, or just wanted to branch out a little since they got some new menus printed, but I wholeheartedly approve of their new menu items and the new look. Has anyone else noticed this in the past few months, or am I just oblivious?
