Schlafly/BoomBozz Taphouse Fundraiser for KY Humane Society

by Scott_Shreffler » Fri Nov 04, 2011 7:02 pm

Hey, all. Wanted to let you all know about a cool event that is happening tomorrow, Saturday November 5th. Here's the info:

What: Happy Tails to You - Fundraiser for Kentucky Humane Society featuring Schlafly Beer
Where: BoomBozz Taphouse - Highlands - 1914 Bardstown Road
When: Saturday November 5th
Time: Noon - 11:00p.m.

We're drinking beer and raising money for a good cause! For every pint of Schlafly sold, $2 will be donated to the Kentucky Humane Society. To entice all you beer and animal lovers to help us out, we've picked 7 different Schlafly Beers that will all be on draft. They are:

- Schlafly Black IPA (VERY small production beer)
- Schlafly Hop Harvest (Dry-Hopped with freshly harvested Sorachi Ace Hops)
- Schlafly Winter ESB (Keg was filled 3 days ago!!!)
- Schlafly Hoppy Hefe (American Wheat Ale, Dry-Hopped with Sorachi Ace Hops)
- Schlafly Schwarzbier (Newest release in our Brewer's Choice Series)
- Schlafly Pilsner (Czech-Style Pils, Dry-Hopped with Lublin Hops)
- Schlafly Dry-Hopped APA (Dry-Hopped with Cascade and Chinook Hops)

Hmmm....maybe we should re-name this HOPPY Tails to You.

Many thanks to Michael Beckmann and the whole BoomBozz Crew for helping put this together. Without their generosity, none of this would be possible.

Hope to see lots of you out tomorrow!!! Cheers, all.

We stopped by around 1:30 to do our part for the puppies. We had a party of six including two who were only root beer aged. Things were pretty slow and the Schlafly/Humane Society charity aspect was pretty low key with the event written up on a chalk board near the bar and never mentioned by our server.

The server also had the names of the Schafly beers written on the back of an order ticket which she read off but she really couldn't offer many details. I had planned to try three of the beers that sounded interesting based on this post. I started with the black IPA and it was so good I couldn't convince myself to try anything else.

The food was really tasty as well with the cheese stix and pub nacho appetizers exceeding expectations at about $7 bucks each. We had the lunch pizza combos which came with a personal 8' pizza and a side salad. I could not believe how fresh and tasty the field greens salad with balsamic vinaigrette was. This was a half size salad and it was plenty at that. These meals were priced at about $8 bucks and were an unbelievable value. Everyone was pleased with their food. We all took some home.

I glanced longingly at the bar where I could see all the tap handles which is really where I'm most comfortable. They had a nice selection of local and national craft beers. Lots of high def TVs showing the Breeder's Cup and the Louisville Football game.

We had a good time so thanks Boom Bozz and Schaflys. In the end its really about the puppies no?
I'm a bitter drinker....I just prefer it that way
