Marty's review of NA Exchange says it all !!
This is our favorite place and hope it will be for many of you too! Ian, Bryston, Casey, et al are a wonderful and friendly team of professionals. Can't rave enough about them!!

The NA Exchange is my favorite lunchtime restaurant and also my favorite new restaurant of any type. I've tried many of the new places on both sides of the river and many like Coals, ATG, Doc Crows, and AP Crafters have a lot to offer.

The NAX has it all, great food, interesting beer, pleasant atmosphere, terrific staff, and above all consistency in all of those areas. I'm really glad NAX is on my side of the River! :D

Congrats! Unlike Marty, apparently, I've seen the quality of NA Exchange since the beginning. I did think he was a little heavy-handed in his comments in the first part of the review, which didn't reflect the scene as I saw it. But the bottom line is the conclusion, and that's all good.

I've been to NAX for lunch perhaps 6 times over the last year and have always been impressed with the food, the presentation and the service. On my last visit I was very disappointed that their killer reuben was no longer on the menu.. ..what the hell were they thinking? Bring it back!

Bill, just because it isn't on the menu doesn't mean they won't make you one. They made me a reuben a while back after it had been taken off the menu. Off course they might not always have the ingredients but this is an example of why they are a notch above many others. :)

I did express my "disappointment" when I initially ordered and provided ample opportunity for an off menu offer to be made. No biggie, but I do wish the reuben would go back on the menu.

Shane,
That's Vito, our neighborhood free range dog. He's quite helpful about keeping the deer out of our gardens and providing varmint control on woodchucks, possum, and pesky door to door preachers.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. It has been a long road and a ton of work to get where we are today, but I am so proud of my team, past and present. These crew works harder than any staff I have ever been a part of. We will continue to grow, get better, focus on wonderful and consistent service, provide a great product, produce a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, and probably make a few more mistakes along the way. I will be the first to admit it has taken us some time to develop this restaurant into to what is today. Most of you don't know the backstory reguarding the Exchange, it was a rebrand of a previous concept that crashed and burned for me. It was a very difficult time for myself and my family, and I felt the only option was to take things a different direction. Time was of the essence, money was tight, and my family and I laid it all on the line to hope to get things turned around. Luckily people like yourselves have responded well to what we do and have made this dream into a reality. We have a long way to go, but I like the path we have chosen.

To Dave Clancy, I will never be able to repay what you did for me, from getting my kitchen to look like a kitchen again, developing a menu that I imagined in my head, and helping us get started down the right path. There were plenty of bumps along the way, but what a great experience. I hope we can be around for a long time, because I love this business with all my heart, it's all I have ever done. I hope that those of you who haven't had the chance to check us out, will do so soon. And about that Rueben, we change our menus quarterly, and I am sure you will see it again at some point. Rumor has it, is that Executive Chef John Pool is working on a brisket as we speak for this weekend, maybe you will see a Rueben tonight. I'll keep you posted, and thanks again for the continued support of the New Albany Exchange. Cheers, Ian

It's been wonderful having NAX in the 'hood on Grant Line Road, and also Earth Friends Cafe right across the road (behind El Nopal). Along with our original establishment, they're part of a really nice nucleus of locally-owned, independent food and drink businesses in the area. It is noteworthy that NABC and Earth Friends (along with Pacers and Racers, the athletic shoe store down the way) have joined New Albany First, our newly emerging independent business association; think of a LIBA in New Albany, except that here, we must make things weird before we keep them that way.

NAX might have joined too, not sure, but at any rate, it's a fine time to be doing business in the vicinity of IUS and the I-265 interchange. Congrats to Ian and the crew. You've reached "institution" status in a very short time, and we all appreciate it.
