Thanksgiving Dinners? Post them here!

by Robin Garr » Wed Nov 02, 2011 12:28 pm

This is the place: I'll leave it pinned until after the holiday.

It's okay for restaurateurs and chefs to post their own announcements here without further permission, although please try to avoid excessive PR hype, which won't work well with this group anyway. 8)

Of course "civilians" are also welcome to post info about favorite places having traditional - or non-traditional - holiday feasts, or even places that will stay open on the holiday serving their regular fare.

DON'T FORGET TO CHANGE THE SUBJECT LINE TO REFLECT YOUR RESTAURANT! This makes it easy for folks to scan the topics. :)

Thanksgiving at French Lick Resort

by Robin Garr » Wed Nov 02, 2011 12:34 pm

Here's an example: This looks like a fine event, but I just wasted 10 minutes of my life editing embarrassingly slavering hype out of this news release. Please note, PR folks: Just let me have the facts! Okay, thanks.

French Lick Resort in West Baden Springs, Ind., plans a variety of Thanksgiving feasts. There'll be a traditional Thanksgiving Day buffet at the Grand Colonnade Family Restaurant, a festive dinner under the hotel's landmark domed atrium, and turkey pizza all weekend at the resort's Pluto’s Pizzeria.

The Grand Colonnade buffet will feature ore than 40 items including oven roasted turkey with cranberry relish or giblet gravy, clove studded honey glazed ham, carved smoked sirloin, airline chicken, baked cod with caper lemon butter sauce, smoked sausage with grilled peppers, sweet glazed pork ribs, a wide variety of salads, butternut squash soup du jour, creamy corn pudding, candied yams, whipped Yukon gold potatoes and giblet gravy, green bean casserole, cooked collard greens with applewood smoked bacon, plus other fresh vegetables and fruits as well as freshly baked breads and desserts.

The buffet will be available from 11am to 9pm on Thursday, November 24. Prices are $25 for adults 13 and over, $12.50 for children ages 5 through 12, and free for children 4 and under. Reservations recommended.

Families interested in a more intimate setting can visit the West Baden Springs Hotel where Thanksgiving dinner is served under the atrium along with classical harp music. There'll be starters including a raw bar, a variety of salads, acorn squash soup with maple syrup cream, deviled eggs, marinated grilled vegetables and a cheese board with fall fruit compotes. Holiday selections include carved prime rib of beef with au jus and yorkshire pudding, carved smithfield ham with roasted late pepper-pineapple chutney, sliced tom turkey with cornbread dressing and giblet gravy, pecan crusted duck leg confit with apricot wild rice and braised mustard greens and crab stuffed trout with stone ground grits. Entrees are paired with traditional sides such as whipped Yukon gold potatoes, candied yams, green bean casserole and more. An assortment of traditional holiday desserts is also available.

Dinner will be served from 3pm to 8pm on Thursday, November 24. Prices are $55 for adults 13 and over, $15 for children ages 5 through 12, and free for children 4 and under. Reservations required.

Special Thanksgiving Day hotel packages are available. Room rates start at $195 at French Lick Springs Hotel and include an overnight stay, Thanksgiving dinner for two in the Grand Colonnade Family Restaurant and a special welcome gift. Room rates begin at $286 at West Baden Springs Hotel and include overnight accommodations and Thanksgiving dinner for two in the atrium. To book a stay or make dinner reservations, call (888) 936-9360 or visit www.frenchlick.com.

:? ...Well we probably can't match the imagination and creativity of some of these dishes but we've certainly got an empty seat or two at our table. If your circumstances find you spending time alone of without family this Thanksgiving, drop me a P.M. and we'll see if we can't work something out.
