Help ... good restaurant where kids will be welcome

Okay, gang, here's the challenge, and I need ideas fast.

A friend's father will be in town Thursday. He wants to take her and her three children (ages 5 to 9) out to dinner. He'll be staying downtown, so reasonably close to downtown would be nice. It should be a place where the kids feel welcome, and a place where her father-in-the-business will be happy.

I'm thinking Theater Square Marketplace. Concur? Other ideas?

Baxter Station has always been my niece's favorite restaurant - she likes the train and they handle kids with expertise in my opinion. The Spaghetti Factory is also a kid favorite.

BUT, Theater Square is unbeatable and we know they love little people.

EDIT: I just realized you said the father in law is ITB, so the Spaghetti Factory may be out. What about the sushi place downtown (sushi places always take good care of kids in my opinion) and a walk to 21C after to look at the dancing letters, penguins, and restrooms?

Or Doc Crow's?

Btw, Osaka was the place I was trying to think of. Its between 4th and 5th on Mkt, so they would have a 4 block walk to get to 21C after (although some parents may think the museum is too mature for little ones, they may be able to keep their attention on less-offensive displays).

They are leaning toward Marketplace, I think. I suggested that she let them know about the (well-behaved) kids when she reserves. Actually, it would be super if Dallas pops into this thread, or maybe I'll ping him. Thanks to all, or most.

I would love them to come in to Marketplace! We should be fairly busy but I love having kids in the restaurant. I have a little guy myself you know! We also have an open kitchen that they could sit near and see us cooking back there along with a nice indoor water feature and fireplaces in the back that just mesmerizes kids and some adults.

I hope Marketplace gets some business, but do you think the fact that it's far enough to the south side of downtown and on the far side of some wig shops might hold the crowds down after the game?

I hope that people realize that Louisville is really starting to look like a thriving downtown with lots of dining and entertainment choices. Zoo is not a bad thing and I'd certainly take it as opposed to cemetery which could have been used to describe after business hours in the not too distant past.

We live in the Highlands and love our restaurant rows, but wife and I will be at Marketplace and The Brown tomorrow night and Seviche and Center for the Arts Sunday night. Looking forward to both.

How about Bazo's by U of L campus on 4th and Cardinal? We are not too far away from Downtown and we are also kid friendly. Our Downtown store is now open but we are closed in the evening. The campus location is open until 10.00 pm and the address is
