I was out on an afternoon "Dad Date" with my lovely daughter today and we stopped in for a cup of coffee and a slice of pie.
Before going on and on and on about this place, let me just say....

....I can't believe I've lived here for three years and NOT visited a HIC&PK before now. Shame on me, particularly since we walk right by the St. Matts location on our many (many) trips to Coals and/or Cooking at the Cottage. In our defense, I'll just say....

....that this is one of several gems we've discovered recently that for whatever reason don't get a lot of "air time" on Hotbytes.
ANYWAY...After our visit this afternoon, I've got to say that not since Coals opened last March have I found myself so enthusiastic about a new dining option. This place is ROCK STAR. The building has been lovingly restored and has a ambiance that resonated to a T with both myself and my mid 20's daughter. High ceilings, lots of wood and brick, a variety of seating options including some very comfortable looking leather sofas and chairs. If you didn't know better you'd swear the place has been there forever, it's THAT comfortable.
Food wise, in addition to pie and ice cream they will soon (like in three weeks !!!) have a Deli AND a pizza oven in operation. The pizza was described to me as "Artisan" and the Deli options sound like they will be fabulous. The pie and cake we enjoyed today was
the best I've had since moving to town (something those of you who are long time and loyal customers already know). Yep, even if you've tried other HIC&PK locations in other parts of town, ya needs to be giving this one a try. I know we'll be back.
