Last evening, October 28th, was TRUCKTOBERFEST at the Henry Clay Building Patio. Located on Chestnut Street at Fourth this is a premium location for food trucks. I can't imagine there is a better venue in the city. It is covered, cobblestoned, large, with restroom facilities. There were six food vendors there. One was new, Red's Comfort Foods, a hot dog vendor, at least it was new to us. The chili dog was great. Moon Dogs was there playing music for dancing or listening. Leah, that chocolate cupcake like triple chocolate death cake Suzi got... Yeah the one I barely got to smell. She said it was best yet.
There has been a lot of chatter over the past week at new regulations that Metro Louisville was imposing, then yesterday word came down that the mayor was meeting with Matt and perhaps a rethinking of the rules was in fact in order. Let's hope. Last night when we arrived Mayor Fischer was there, not eating, but there and talking to some folks. He didn't stay long but got to see how good these kinds of events are.
I have proposed at the last two group food truck gatherings that they need to have a Christmas Party someplace. This venue would be an excellent location for December 9 or 10 for such an event. Come on food truck owners, you know that would be a great time. I hope that people here would pass on that same thought to ALL the truck owners.
I made it a point to talk to people about what they thought about it. I ran into two WV families, one from my hometown in fact. They had never seen anything like it before. There was a mix of people at the event from older teens to many of those from our generation and lots in between. Everyone I talked to was enthusiastic about food trucks and the venue.
If you have not made a food truck event you need to do so. You can find the calendar of events here: http://www.louisvillestreetfood.com/ind ... view=month
and if that is a 404 or a 500 then just go to http://www.louisvillestreetfood.com/ and click on the link.
