Cheese Curds!

by Scott_Shreffler » Sun Oct 23, 2011 4:56 pm

Does anyone know any place in Louisville that I can buy cheese curds? I know I can order them online, but if I can buy them here, that'd be preferable. Thanks for the help. Cheers...

Huber's used to offer them when the first opened the cheesery. Worth a call.

I'd give Lotsa Pasta a call as well.

Whole Foods used to carry them. Haven't looked for 'em in a while, but I remember them being in the first set of shelves just past the "cheese market" display area where the mozz and stuff usually reside.

I pretty sure you can order them from GFS. Got some last year.

Kroger has some from Wisconsin, they are pretty good. They bare usually in the Deli section. My favorites come from an Amish store we go to in Adams Co. Ohio.

Liquor Barn carried them on occasion. I haven't seen any squeakers in town though.

I've never had these. How do you eat them? Just in a bowl or as part of a recipe?

One popular way to enjoy the curds is to fry them. We have had these at bars up in northern Wisconsin. Make a thin beer batter, coat curds and deep fry for a minute or two.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Culvers sells them like that as a side item. Pretty tasty, but the chipotle ones they had briefly when they were doing the "3 Pepper Chipotle Butterburger" promo last summer were much better than the plain cheddar ones.
