I visited Las Palmas this afternoon and was pleased with the place. It’s small, with a relatively limited menu: a daily special, Cubanos and some other sandwiches, empanadas and other snacks, desserts and baked goods. There’s a cooler stocked with soft drinks, some of them Hispanic. The menu’s here:

I had three decent-size empanadas and an iced tea for lunch, plus two ground beef pastelitos to go, and paid less than $8. The ground beef empanada was good, but the ham and cheese empanada was outstanding. (I haven’t tried the pastelitos yet.)
The woman working there said they’ve been open about a month, and they claim to be the only real Cuban bakery in town.
