Gemelli's

by Lauren Bearden » Mon Oct 17, 2011 3:48 pm

I was driving down Brownsboro today and noticed a change in the line-up of the strip mall Gemelli's is in. The Gemelli's sign was gone, and there was a new sign that said "Primo's Fine Oils & Vinegars" (or something like that - I actually don't think it was Primo's, but another "P" name - I only got a quick glimpse as I was driving). Anyone know what's up? I didn't have a chance to stop in and probably won't until this weekend, but I've been going to Gemelli's for years and would be sad to see this place go. I also can't imagine a store that sells mostly oils & vinegars making it in that location, so there's got to be more to it than what I saw during my brief drive-by.

Re: Gemelli's - closed? Renovating?

I think Gemelli's is taking on a line of fine oils and vinegars, but I think they're going strong and pretty sure they're not replacing the wines! I have to drive right in front of there in an hour or two, and if I leave early for my meeting, I'll run in and see what I can see. :)

It probably relates to this post on Gemelli's Facebook page, though:

Gemelli is doing fine. The travel agent next door is going to be an Olive Oil store, and is renovating.

Gemelli has taken on a line of fine foods to compliment their great wine selection. Great italian and French wines.

NO, Gemellis is NOT closing. The oil and vinegar store is 2 doors down. Gemelli's has actually added a lot of goodies and is doing great! We love this neighborhood gem!!

I hope the thread title doesn't discourage anyone from making a trip over there. If people don't read the posts, they might think Gemelli's is closed and decide not to waste their time.

Is the olive oil place open yet? Their website -- http://primooils.com/newsite/ -- says they're opening in early October, but I couldn't find a phone number to call to confirm that. I find it interesting that two stores specializing in olive oil are opening in Louisville in the space of just a few months. I wonder if there's enough demand to support them.

Ok...false alarm! Calm down, Gemelli's lovers. ;)

Thanks for the info, Robin. I'll have to make a trip over there soon to check it out. It didn't even occur to me to check the FB page.

I agree - can't see a place like this surviving, but who knows? Where's the other store you mention, by the way? Just curious.

The other store is Zi Olive in Westport Village. I haven't been there, but it's discussed here:
