Hippo Wings?

by Suzi Bernert » Wed Oct 03, 2007 10:56 pm

We were going to Eastern Parkway tonight and passed by Hippo Wings on Crittenden. The place was dark with a big "For Lease" sign on it. (I stopped to read it, just to make sure, since my last debacle seeing a sign for the space next door to another restaurant and thinking they were closed) Guess it's off to Wing Zone now.

Hate to see a local restaurant go under. Frankly, I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. The prices were high for the target UL crowd and the location is extremely hard to get in and out of.

i agree... the prices were a bit high and i was never too impressed with the product on the 3 or 4 occasions that we ordered from them. the wings were small and the sauces rather generic. Ive never tried Wing Zone- are they better?

Wing Zone is pretty good, but, as noted in the LEO/LHB column that Kevin Gibson joined me in reporting a couple of weeks ago, you can do a lot better around town. Among places that specialize in wings, I'm still smitten by Wings-N-Things (next door to Tony Boombozz on North Hurstbourne), and the little Wings 2 Go over on Charlestown Road on the north side of New Albany is also surprisingly good.
