I guess the results of the poll are very telling. 92% say the tipping should be allowed to stay like it is, 1.3% are in favor of the motion and the rest say they don't tip at all.
Tips are a reward for service rendered. If you set the rate at a mandatory level it is no longer a tip. I also still don't understand why the percentage of tips should keep increasing. The cost of meals increases, many times faster than inflation so even if the level of tipping remained the same the money going to the servers would increase!
