Seasonal challenge: Match wine to Halloween treats!

by Robin Garr » Wed Oct 12, 2011 12:06 pm

Here's a tricky treat! The kids have brought home a giant bag of mixed Halloween treats, there's hundreds of candies and other sweet goodies floating around. Let's match them with wine!

For the purposes of this project, we're looking specifically at California wines here, but we can certainly play the game from a broader perspective. It's all in fun, but answers should actually make some wine sense, or at least be defensible.

Let's see your picks!

Reese’s peanut butter cups
Snickers
Twix
Kit Kat
Butterfinger
Gummi worms
Tootsie Roll
Jelly Beans
Caramel apple
M&M's regular
M&M's peanut
Candy corn
Starburst
Smarties
Salt water taffy
Malted milk balls
Hershey's dark chocolate

I'll take a stab at it, Gamay varietal with malted milk balls.
Light, fruity, low tannin, ? am I close?

There are no wrong answers! I think that would be a good pick, though, Heather. :)
