Domenica House

by Gary Guss » Mon Oct 10, 2011 1:42 pm

We had lunch at the Domenica house at Lynnhurst and Taylor ( 3 blocks South of the Watterson) today, we had a chicken and a beef empanada and an order of fried Plantains, this and two drinks set us back a whopping $6. They have a large lunch time steam table of various stews ( Beef, Chicken, Pork, Shrimp and Goat) with rice. The owner is very friendly and the place is super clean. They also gave us some home made chili verde sauce to put on the empanadas which were fresh out of the fryer. They have about 8 tables to dine-in and also do a great takeout business. Give them a try sometime.

Stopped in there the other day...

...only to find out that it was now the Domenica House.

It had been 'Los Jarritos' for a year or so, and was my favorite Mexican/Taqueria in the city. You ever get a chance to hit up? It was a one man operation, and I'd be interested to know if he relocated elsewhere.

The steam tables did look very good, but I had my mind set on Tacos/Huaraches, so I went elsewhere. Plan to try it out soon.
