I love living in Louisville

by Gayle DeM » Thu Oct 06, 2011 11:42 pm

Earlier this week I posted, "OMG Heaven and then some! I'm so glad that I was one of the lucky ones to particpate in this extravangance! The food and wine pairings were suberb! The only wine dinner that I have been to recently that has challengednit was the Pork and Pinot on the Patio @ Theater Square Marketplace. I have no idea how one can begin to compare pork and pinot with seafood and chardonay! Hot damn! I love living in Louisville!"

Then on Wednesday evening I had dinner with one of my book clubs at Buck's. I love the ambience! Takes me back to another era like no television show can. The white flowers, the solist at the baby grand and the FOOD! My choice for the evening was the house salad ( I think it's the addition of walnuts that pushes it over the edge for me.), fresh gulf shrimp and pasta, and the most decadent of chocolate tortes with blackberries (Oh yes, and to think that most of the time I say that I don't care for sweets - WRONG! Sweets just have to be done "right" and this chocolate torte definitely was.)

This evening I dined at the Westport General Store. We shared an appetizer of Baby Hot Browns - toast points topped with fresh grilled chicken, creamy Mornay sauce, crispy bacon and vine-ripe tomatoes. Chef Clancy sure knows how to make a Mornay sauce! One of my friends had the Chicken Breast Saltimbocca; the other the Red Eye Shrimp. I had the evening special a bison quesadilla. We shared bites. All were excellent, but I know I came out the winner. Of course the freshness of the bison, coming from across the creek may have help.

I really don't want to live and dine anywhere else!

That's good because we certainly want and appreciate you here.

Why thank you, Steve. (Blush, blush.)

Buck's flourless chocolate tort is da bomb. We have finished more than a few progressive dinners there for dessert.
