One of your food suppliers should be able to assist you with this problem. If not, there are a handful of companies that offer that service in Louisville, although I can't recall names or websites.

Nancy,
Like Shawn stated one of your food suppliers should be able to help you out, I know that Sysco has a whole team dedicated to this and depending on your purchase power with them might offer there services at no charge.
There is a program called MenuPro that is powered by SoftCafe that is really easy to navigate thru and also gives you dozens of templates and ideas on how to create your menu(s). It is also nice to have it to create and print in house instead of waiting for the turn around if you choose to change up your menu frequently or know that an item is not selling.

Nancy,

This may be ridiculously obvious, but are you working with a chef? Those skills are usually part of the training.

Services like those provided by Sysco are very good and can provide a lot of help and support. I have found them to be very foundational, however, a good menu must also fit your restaurant and reflect your vision and must go beyond the nuts and bolts of menu construction. A good menu is the spine of a great restaurant!

Ah, Nancy. You don't have to have somebody write your menu for you. You can do it yourself with MS Office, Kinkos, and a chalkboard. I can help if you don't mind something very simple.

To my knowledge, Mattingly does not offer programs like menu development or marketing services. At least they didn't during the years we did business with them.

dear nancy, sysco is very helpful. The best site i found was restaurtanowner.com it was the best $12 a month we spent. beyond the menu help, forums, spreadsheets, they also had great job descriptions and manuals. if i had used all the tools from the beginning, things would have been better for our restaurant. best of luck. pb

Locally Owned? Do you know who Mattingly is an Ohio company....While Louisville Grocery (now Sysco/Louisville) was one of the six founding members of Sysco Inc. So if you want to buy from a distributor that is local...that would be us. I am glad to make that point clear for you all.

As a founding member of Sysco Corporation.....Sysco/Louisville which also is locally run...is plenty local. We also embrace a very strong KY Proud program as well. I am "playing" plenty fair. I had to set Heather straight. If we need to go into more detail, I will gladly do so.

This is obviously off topic,it was just the "tone" of "making the point clear for you all",
and now, of "setting Heather straight",that seems to be rather off topic as well.
