Blue Lagoon

A friend just told me that Blue Lagoon's final night was last night--they were there (unknowing and they are regulars!). A real shame. Anyone know anything about this......

I can’t say for sure but as I understand it the owner has another restaurant and they are going to revamp the Blue Lagoon location into another location for the other restaurant. Sorry that’s all the gossip I’ve heard.
I’ll regret this tomorrow…

There was a brief item Friday in the Courier-Journal that said Sharom's Fishery Station would open in that location. I believe there's already one Sharom's on Outer Loop.

That is correct, Sharom will open a fried fish place similar to his store on Outer Loop. He felt there was a need for that in the neighborhood and the stuff Blue Lagoon was doing already had too much competition in the area. He told me that a few weeks ago.

How does Zaytun fit into this picture? Or is Zaytun gone? Obviously, I haven't been there for a long time.

I ate there a few weeks ago, so it was open then. It does steady business, so I don't see it closing. But I have no insider knowledge.

As for Blue Lagoon I ate there maybe twice and visited the bar a few times. I agree with the idea that a fish place will do better in that location then a tapas place. My parents go to Sharom's regularly, and I'd go more if I didn't have to go out to Highview. Which is to say, I hope they do open up a second Sharom's closer into town.

Okay, but I'm still confused. Isn't Zaytun (and Blue Lagoon) run by Sharom's son? I had the impression that Zaytun was basically the same kind of restaurant as Sharom's, which would make Sharom and Zaytun so close together seem like a bad idea. Or is Sharom's completely different from Zaytun?

Zaytun's serves various Mediterranean fare and Sharom's basic fish sandwich. Sharom's serves a wide-spanning seafood menu along with Zaytun's basic gyro. So each place serves the other place's feature dish, but, apart from that, the menus are unique.

I believe Remy, the son, ran both, Zaytuns and Blue Lagoon.
Now, Sharom (the Father) will take over Blue Lagoon.
