Louisville's Best Cheap Eats?

by Sanjay S » Mon Oct 01, 2007 9:23 pm

I'm relatively new to the area (been here just over a year) and still getting around to trying all of the places recommended in this forum. I was wondering what everyone's favorite inexpensive restaurants are (no more than $10 for the entire meal, including drink). Here are my picks:

Havana Rumba (any of their sandwiches)
Clifton's (calzones)
Bazo's (just about anything on the menu, but especially the fish and shrimp tacos)
Shiraz/Al Watan
India Palace - lunch buffet
Chick-Fil-A (can't help it, I'm a life-long addict)

If there's a particular dish I should try at any of your favorites, please let me know.

Thanks!

Bosna Mak, on Buechuel Bypass, $4 Gyro is one of the best in town I think and a great value.

Double Dragon on Goss Ave
Omar's Gyros on Bardstown Road
Vietnam Kitchen

I have to say, I've lived here in Louisville for most of my life, and I would NEVER have tried Omar's or Vietnam Kitchen if not for this site. I've never been steered wrong by any suggestions made by members on this site! What a great resource!

Hear, Hear!...I'm looking forward to the Grand Opening of the Qdoba in Westport Village...

I also like Pho Binh Minh on Strawberry Lane in Louisville's South End...

I would highly recommend the Banh Mi Thit (Vietnamese Sandwich with Char Siu Pork)...Spring Rolls...and a Vietnamese Iced Coffee...

Liang's Cafe (the entrees might just cross the $10 mark, but they're easily big enough for two meals, maybe even three).
