New England Clam Dip - with sour cream

by Sherrie G » Mon Oct 01, 2007 7:03 pm

Ok, I don't cook, so as tempted as you may be to forward me a recipe, I won't make it. However, if you know where I can purchase New England Clam dip that is made with sour cream, I'd love to know.

I've looked at Paul's, Rainbow Blossom, Losta Pasta, Whole Foods, Meijer, Kroger, Wal-Mart and the Party Store (ok, it's probably called something else but I'm drawing a blank... you can get all kinds of specialty foods there as well as alcohol).

Doll's has Clam Dip but it's made with cream cheese. I'm not a fan of cream cheese so I'm skipping that. Finally, I can order it online, from Helavu Good (which is all I've had so I'm content with that). But I have to get a six-pack of dip. All I want is clam dip. A six-pack of that would either go bad before I could eat it all or it would go right to my six-pack abs.

On the chance there is no such thing as Clam Dip made with sour cream in the greater Louisville area, and I have to order the six-pack... let me know now if you'd be willing to take a 12oz package off my hands.

Try Fresh Market, they carry Helava Good dips, but I have to check with hubby about the clam.

1 can (7 ounces) Clams -- drained
2 teaspoons Lemon juice
1/8 teaspoon Pepper
2 tablespoons Minced onion (optional)
1 cup Sour cream
1/2 teaspoon Salt

Gently fold clams into sour cream. Add other ingredients and stir gently until blended. Serve with chips.

You can probably make it quicker than making the shopping trip, and you can tweak it the way you want it.

Vince thanks for the recipe... minced, chopped or whole clams? or does it matter?

I'll give it a try over the weekend.

If you have them whole, give them a buzz on high, in the food processor.
Sounds great to me, I have a can of canned whole clam strips.

More clam> a rough chop might be interesting...hmm

Be sure to include about a tsp of the juice of the clams(liquor).
