We are looking for a unique pizza experience tonight and would like to hear some suggestions.

No chains....just indies.

Coals is really hard to beat, but (see thread below) Garage Bar is making some awesome chef-driven toppings combinations on small pizzas fired in a Neapolitan style wood-burning brick oven. And Papalino's is always good - the new branch in Cardinal Village (former Mastersons) has plenty of room to sit down in a more dine-in environment than the one on Bardstown Road.

You can also get outstanding pizzas on the broader menus at Caffe Classico (their pie is a particular favorite of mine) and Cafe Lou Lou.

Coals isn't open on Sunday. I'm not sure about all the others.

Cafe Classico is open, we just returned from there and as a matter of fact my husband got the Shrimp Thai pizza (leftovers will be my lunch tomorrow!).

Had pizza delivered to hotel so kids could swim and was very disappointed in Bearno's.......not sure why this place is popular.

Bearno's originated as a family pizzeria, on Taylorsville Road opposite Bowman Field. They were okay then, not a leader of the pack but one of the pack. In recent decades they've evolved into a local chain, and in my mind have lost a step or two. Not horrible (at least not the last time I tried), but not really a standout, either.
