A last-minute reminder here ... there's still time to sign on!

The Olmsted Will Host the
34th Annual Taste of Louisville
Event to Benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Louisville Affiliate

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug.22, 2007) – The Louisville Chapter of the Kentucky Restaurant Association (KRA) will host the 34th Annual Taste of Louisville on Oct. 2, 2007, 6 – 10 p.m., at The Olmsted on Frankfort Avenue. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Louisville Affiliate and the Kentucky Restaurant Association Education Foundation. Last year, the Kentucky Restaurant Association – Louisville Chapter was able to contribute $10,000 to local charities! We are proud to announce that the Taste of Louisville has generated over $536,000 in fundraising revenue since its inception. The Taste originated in 1973, making it the first taste event in Louisville.

Attendees of this year’s Taste will have the opportunity to sample the best foods and beverages from over 40 of Louisville’s finest restaurant and beverage distributors. This year we will once again announce the Taste of Louisville People’s Choice Awards at the conclusion of the event. The competition promises to be formidable based upon last year’s winners! The Olmsted had the Best Decorated Booth, Bonefish Grill won Best Appetizer/Soup, Makers Mark didn’t disappoint the crowd with Best Beverage, Stoney River Legendary Steaks took the lead with Best Entrée for the second year in a row, Café Emilie wowed us with Best Dessert, and California Pizza Kitchen made our mouths water with the Best Salad/Vegetable. We look forward to a very exciting competition again this year! Door prizes will also be given away throughout the evening.

Amy Landrum, chairperson of the event, is very excited about the opportunity to partner with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Louisville Affiliate. “The Louisville Chapter of the KRA is proud to support such a worthy cause that strives to develop a cure and improve the quality of life for those with the disease here in Louisville.”

"We are honored to be associated with such a prestigious event as The Taste of Louisville, especially with it being held in October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month", said Stacey Hallahan, president, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Louisville Affiliate. “Patrons of the Taste will be pleased to know 75% of the money Komen Louisville raises stays in this community to fund critical breast health projects in the areas of education, screening and treatment. The remaining 25% goes toward Komen for the Cure's National Grant & Award Program", added Hallahan.

Stacy Roof, president and CEO of the Kentucky Restaurant Association, also noted that “The KRA’s Educational Foundation grants more than $30,000 in scholarships annually to deserving Kentucky students pursuing their dreams. The Trustees are thankful for the Chapter’s generous gifts!”

Tickets are $65 per person a portion is tax deductible. Corporate tables are also available for $1000. Both may be purchased online at http://www.kyra.org or you may contact Essential Details, the Taste Event Management Company, at 502-499-6478 for additional information.

This is a great event - proceeds go to Susan Komen and it's breast cancer awareness month. Hope to see you there!

It's the "People's Choice" voted by Taste-goers - certainly not reflective of all the participants in the Taste!

60 West is very proud to be a part of such a great event! We will be serving an item from our new menu; Chimay & Chili Braised Short Ribs served with white cheddar polenta & natural beef reduction. As a special feature to celebrate our new opening, we will be cooking everything on site. We will also be handing out new 60 West T-shirts(while they last!!) & letting people sign up for a drawing to name a new Martini on our new Martini list.

We look forward to seeing everybody tomorrow evening! Please stop by & say "hi"!

Regards,

I remember it fondly in 1975 when the proceeds went to the new culinary program at JCC. The restaurants used to be first rate, the event was held in the spacious rooms at the Executive West and there was good dancing following. It definitely took a nosedive when it became a charity event and moved to the Olmstead. The rooms are cramped and extremely hot...lots of afternoon sun combined with all the chafing dish heat. It's also very loud and crowded.

I hope everyone had as much fun at Taste of Louisville last night as we did! Another terrific turnout for a WONDERFUL cause(breast cancer research) this year! I don't remember all the awards given out(it was a very long day!), but Stoney River won for best entree(congrats to them!!!). Just a great, fun crowd last night with lots of energy! Finally got to meet Stacy from KRA, too!!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to try a dish off of our new menu. Wear your new T-Shirts around town for us!

Regards,
