Is Value Market going to take Doll's space?

by Catherine Davidson » Fri Sep 02, 2011 10:36 am

Have heard now from two people that Value Market is looking at Doll's space? Anyone know anything more? I so miss not being able to run into Doll's.

Whoa! I miss Doll's, but I could work with Valu in that space!

That's a reasonable rumor. Valu has really established a foothold in the local market since modifying each story to fit the surrounding area. Such an approach would surely work in that area.

Me too :D IMO, grocery wise in the 'hood, Value Market would go a long way in making us whole again.

I was a devoted Highlands Valu Market fan until I had four episodes of spoiled fresh chicken in a six month time period. I never got the feeling that they got to the bottom of the problem or really cared that much. I regretfully switched back to Kroger.

If they do move in I sincerely hope that they will have corrected their fresh chicken problem from a few years ago.

And yes, I spoke with management every time it happened, reported the problem through the proper channels.

I pointed the owner to this thread and his response was: David, I wish all the good rumors would come true and the bad ones would go away....

I took it to mean no.

The to-go hot meals (at least at the Mid-City Mall location) are very reasonable and very good! I got two big BBQ pork chops, mac n cheese, asparagus, and a roll for $7.00 or so! And they shrink wrap the container- brilliant idea!

And their produce is way better than the average. If I understand correctly, they buy from a farmers co-op so the $ goes back to the farm.
