Bethel St. Paul Turtle Soup Festival

by Ed Vermillion » Fri Sep 28, 2007 10:12 am

Bethel St. Paul Church is having the mighty Turtle Soup Festival tomorrow, Saturday 29 September, from 11:00 A.M. until the soup runs out. They are located at 4004 Shelbyville Rd. in the heart of St. Matthews. Very good soup!

It's a longstanding neighborhood tradition, and not far from where Sears used to be.

I do often wonder, though, where they find all that turtle meat.

I dunno. It sure seems like it would be awful hard to get a turtle into a can. 8)

That's the thing about turtles - they conveniently come in their own can!

definitely canned, and what a smell! If you say it tastes good, I will believe you ,having never had it myself I cannot say anything about the flavor!

I know that we were smelling the preparations all day on Wed.! Pheww.
Guess I will have to walk over tomorrow, and get some to try.

Just remember folks, be patient... parking will be a nightmare!

Have fun!

Did you ever notice how many times the "Old Sears Building" is referenced as a landmark? I've already read it twice in postings just this morning. It seems St Matthews is where it's always happening! I miss it
