He trashed Emeril in the first printing of Kitchen Confidential and then back peddeled later. It's ok to say what you think but the personal nature of his jabs are bothersome. Food is like art, music, or any other subjective media - taste varies.

I personally own 2 Paula Deen cookbooks. And you know what? I've never made anything that wasn't delish! Ok, so it can't be bad when it's made with a lb. of butter and/or cream cheese and a package of sour cream! We don't eat like that often, but damn, it's good when we do! What did they ever do to him? Seriously..he seems like an internet troll..going around bashing others who aren't threatening to him, or those who like fine cuisine like him. Guy Fieri also seems like one of the friendliest people I've ever seen on tv, and from what people have said about him, he is.

I think if they added an extra verse to the Team America theme song, it would be about the awesomeness of Paula Dean.

Uh oh, I'd better pre-ban him from the forum before he gets to town and tries to join.

I personally love Bourdain as a personality/critic and agree with most of his comments and views regarding food. I just don't see the point of trashing other people in an interview - better to do it on an internet forum. Any Tony B. on this sight?

I liked Paula Deen when she first got started, & she kept to her core, which was country cooking. Now I think she now makes a fool of herself cooking baked salmon with dill sauce, and pesto this, & aioli that. She is about 100 miles from her original position & to me that is embarrassing.

Her Southern bullsh_t shtick also gets almost as old as some of the craft beer shtick on this forum ... too many y'alls etc.

I've always loved Bourdain, but you do have to take some of his viewpoints with a grain of salt.

The number one rule is 'eat what you like.' It doesn't matter what he thinks about these personalities, he'll tell you- if you like that food, it's good and screw his opinion.

I also like Paula Deen, Rachel Ray and especially Guy. Great folks that have thier own contributions to a certain demographic. Trust me, without Emeril, Anthony Bourdain would still be slugging it out at Les Halles.

I don't feel strongly about Bourdain. I liked his first book, I sometimes like his travel show, and I've never tried his food. But I'm glad that he isn't afraid to publicly criticize some of these tools like Paula Deen. I believe that Paula Deen is a very good cook (I like watching her show sometimes), but she has also sold herself out by putting her name on detestable products, like her casino buffets (does anyone think that Deen would eat at a casino buffet unless she was literally being paid to promote her own buffet? Some of her fans may have low standards when it comes to country cookin, but my bet is that Deen has very high standards when it comes to what she feeds herself). And that Wolfgang Puck cretin, who puts his name on airport vending machine food, that worthless Express franchise, and truly nasty, artificially-flavored hotel-room instant coffee.

Craft beer now has 14+% of the total beer market. A lot of people don't think it is shtick.

While “shtick” certainly applies to PDean's use of southern vernacular as she is well known for it, I don’t think the term applies to the growing popularity of craft beer in the US. I assume (correct me if I'm wrong) Chris is getting a bit tired of the amount of discussion devoted to craft beer on this forum.

However, this forum is titled “Louisville Restaurants Forum” and describes itself as - “a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.”

Having said that, I do wonder if there could be a forum on the louisvillehotbytes.com website under the Louisville Forums heading for all things “Drink.” For many, drink is just a choice to accompany the meal. For others the drink is just as important or at times more important than the meal.

There are several web sites devoted to beer that are Louisville Metro oriented such as the following: “Justdrinkbeer.com, DerbyCityBrew.com, and Louisvillebeer.com” and these websites all provide good information about beer drinking opportunities in the area.

However, none of them offer the wonderfully addictive free flow format provided by this forum which allows constant sharing of information from users at all levels (consumers, creators, reviewers, etc).

I find this forum informative and highly entertaining on a regular basis. It is mostly devoted to food and I understand that and am not advocating any change. I love food but I really really really love beer. I also appreciate good whiskey (mostly bourbon) and I'm occasionally intrigued by a creative drink ( just keep me away from hurricanes for everyone's safety).

I've posted a few times about the exceptional beers I've found in local establishments and I wonder if this is the right place to share such discoveries. Do you care what's on cask at NABC, Bank St, BBC, Cumberland, etc? Are special discounts on local brews or seasonal guest beers on tap at NAX, Sergio's, and The Sea Hag of any interest to you? How about local brewery sponsored events such as beer dinners, cocktail themes, bike rides, and running events? Am I wasting your time?

I'm sure some will think so, but until Robin says to stop it or there is someplace better to share this information I say to those.....just grin and beer it!
I'm a bitter drinker....I just prefer it that way

Bourdain stands on his own merit as a tv personality, and hardcore badass. Emeril IMO has nothing to do with it. If so, he would be coming to the Kentucky center with Bourdain, and not Ripert
