El Rumbon Truck

by Tony G » Thu Aug 18, 2011 3:34 pm

The wife and I hit up the El Rumbon truck for lunch today. He is set up on Dixie Hwy right by Spencerian College. I got the Chorizo Sandwich $7, the wife had the Chicken Quesadilla $6. Let me tell you each of us had a LOT of food! This guy does not skimp on the portions! While we were waiting he gave us some Sweet Potato Fries to try. Im not a big sweet potato fan but they were VERY good! My sandwich was enough for 2 meals easily. It had some kind of spicy thousand island type dressing on the side that was great for both the sandwich and the fries that came also. The chorizo was fresh and he kicked it up a notch for me to make it spicy. The wife could only finish half of her food. (we will finish it all up for dinner tonite!). Both guys working in the truck were super nice. Just an outstanding quality lunch from El Rumbon! I cant wait to try some of the other trucks around town.

I got a chance to hit up El Rumbon for the first time when he was parked out on Bardstown Road where the old Amazing Grace Whole Foods place was.

I have to say, I've rarely gotten that much food for so little money. The girlfriend got an enormous Cuban sandwich with fries, and I got fried ribs (!!!) and Latin rice. Needless to say, there was plenty left over the next day for lunch. Even more to the credit of the guys in the truck, the food was spectacular. Apparently, fried ribs aren't as popular as they should be, so if you get a chance, try them at the truck so they'll stay on the menu (and I can get them more often).
