Roots/Heart and Soy

by Nathan Goldman » Tue Aug 16, 2011 9:23 pm

Tonight my wife and I ate at Roots, the newest vegetarian restaurant on Bardstown Road. The decor is beautiful and the food is very good. It is heavy on Asian dishes, like its sister Zen Garden. Chris from the Zen Tea House was there and said they have all their teas at the new place. Heart and Soy, next door, is also open. We peaked inside. It is more like a "fast food" place with the giant tofu machine. I hope to try it soon. It's good to have another nice vegetarian restaurant in the city.

Yeah, I posted a little note on Saturday's soft opening, which was challenged but not knocked down by the storm and a power outage. Great place! Vegetarian, yes, but the kind of vegetarian that carnivores can love because the food is so hearty and flavorful that you don't even notice there's no animal flesh in it. 8)

Everything was so fresh and bursting with flavor. I can't wait to try all 25 "Savories"!

Roots' opening has upped the Highlands and Louisville one notch.

The oyster mushrooms could have fooled me...almost!
