Shady Lane Cafe:
Bill and Susi Smith not only offer up the best cheeseburger in Louisville but they are both friendly faces with a smile just when you need it.
Burning Bush Grille
Michael Smith (hmmm, Smith is generic for nice folks) for his fine food and honesty. Mike has perfected the art of making his guests feel like old friends. Best hummus in town.
La Colombiana
Two words, one dish: Bandeja Paisa. Heaven on a plate and salve for the soul.
Selena's at Willow Lake Tavern
Alex Salmon and crew were a late find for us. While Steve P and others have been singing their praises since opening, we hadn't had a chance to wander over that way until Father Day Brunch this year. We've been making up for lost time ever since. My only problem now? Making it past the oyster po boy sandwich at lunchtime and the egg's sardou at brunch. 8 tries later and I'm still happily stuck on my choices. Alex is the consumate host and gentleman, what more is their to say.
Big R's BBQ
Our favorite place for ribs (until Steve P opens a place). The recent move hasn't hurt Randy's smokers and Andrea E. with Q&A Sweet Treats will have her expanded place open before you know it.
Butchers Best
Jimmy & Amy run the best butcher shop around. You couldn't find two friendlier people in retail if you tried. They support the community and have given back in more ways than I can describe.
PizzaSteve-O's, Impellizeri's, Coals and Papalinos are all in the starting line-up.
The Reason to drive to New Albany:
Bank Street Brewhouse
With my apologies to Andy Summers and The Police: "When the world is running you down, you make the best of what's still around."
P.S. Our love of great food is secondary to our love and respect for those who put their heart, soul and life into what they do. Be they straight, gay, christian, muslim, republican, democrat or whatever. Love those you love without reservation and permit all to find their love. Be seeing you soon, my friends.
