Been having issues with Papalinos lately?

by Adam Smith » Sun Aug 07, 2011 5:07 pm

I went there last night, got a whole pie, and it took over 30 minutes. When i asked the cashier/cooks about our pizza we were kinda shrugged off, and after seeing 3 whole pies come out of the oven, I spot mine and say to the cook,"Man, those look amazing," and the cook responded rudley with somethin like," Oh yea? Great," being a wise @ss for no reason This has happened multiple times and one time they just forgot to tell us our pizza was ready so we had a cold pizza. It's just really frustrating that every time I go something goes wrong because I love their pizza. Anyone else have issues with their service?

Went today for lunch and had no problems. 2 tasty slices came out in about 10 minutes, service ok as usual, never was much of a service oriented joint IMO.

I've been three times recently for lunch and it's been great every time. Best lunch deal around.

I've only ordered slices there and I am sure those are faster. For a whole pizza with prep and cooking time best case scenario it's probably going to take 20 minutes.

Next time, call it in about 20 minutes before your eta - thus saving some of the frustration of waiting and drooling!

I've been numerous times - on one occasion they were slow with a whole pie order. On every other occasion they've been super friendly and relatively efficient.

Adam,
I am sorry you have had issues with us lately, typically a whole pie does take anywhere from 20 -25 minutes and thats with no wait. Let me address the issue of customer service, I take these matters very seriously and in no way condone any of my employees to act rude or disrespectful to our customers. We always have a manager on duty and if you feel you have been treated in any way other than with the utmost appreciation I would like for that to be brought to there attention so we can better ourselves to better serve our customer. It is true that we are only a counter service restaurant but I believe and my staff believes that everyone that comes through our doors is to be treated like they are a guest in our home and anything less is unacceptable. I truly apologize for your bad experience and we will do whatever we can to make it right.

Sincerely,

Nice. Very nice Mr Rosenberg...

By the way, the last time I was there, there was a dark-haired girl working counter and she was superb. Rockstar, really.

The pizza is that much better than anywhere else that I don't care if they do have wise ass employees. With what food service people make, I don't expect anything more than my food to be hot.

Exactly. Especially at that place. I've been numerous times and seen customers hassle the person working the oven non-stop. Try putting yourself in the employees shoes. You're working a (probably) low paying job, in an extremely hot restaurant, in front of a 500* oven, and you're being hassled non-stop by customers overrun with a sense of entitlement. I know I would probably be pretty short under those circumstances.

Ate there late night last night... 4 slices, 2 Cokes... No issues.

Some of the best pizza in town I think.

Lately? Haven't given 'em the chance.

Months ago we had a problem with an order (two pizzas, one extra slice) taking two and a half hours. We were told it would take 40 minutes. Of course, the algorithm is that whatever time they tell you, add 50 percent...but this was extraordinary. Someone told us, 'Don't order on a Friday night and expect it to be on time,' but it wasn't night when we ordered—it was afternoon! Also, when we finally got the pizzas they were pretty much unrecognizable. They were widely elliptical in shape and thus required two boxes each. To further make things unpleasant, we had company over with a small child, and by the time everyone got to finish and left it was past EVERYONE's bedtime. So we also got the added bonus of cranky kids for the rest of the weekend!

We complained and got a coupon for a free pizza, but the second time we used it (it was my husband's idea—I didn't want to get any older waiting for another order) they not only took close to twice the promised time and without explanation (again), they left off half the order. Not an exaggeration. HALF. We called again and the owner once again offered us another free order, but we declined. Why accept for free something we have no intention of ever using? (We did, however, get a refund on the half that we never got, and got a frozen pizza from Kroger. Heaven knows we had some control over when that one would be ready.)

We have not been back and, frankly, can't recommend the establishment. I don't think we're being unreasonable, but my time is valuable. Your time is valuable. And when you're entertaining, such unapologetically long lapses are unforgivable. With all respect, Allen, what kind of business wastes your time like that?
