Restaurant closing

Calistoga in the medical center closed abruptly on Monday. I thought it was overpriced and the food uninteresting. Hopefully, this pushes business back to the Med Center City Cafe.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Calistoga "Papa" John Schnatter's effort to emulate Panera? I'm no great fan of the original and was never inspired by the clone.

That said, no restaurant closing is good. People are out of jobs.

Agreed, no closing is good. What's worse is the closing was so abrupt that the signs on the doors tell former employees where to go to get their remaining paychecks. And yes, this was a JS production.

Hmmm, they closed their Lexington store, too. That leaves 4 (1 in Louisville and 3 in Naples, FL) I think.

From what I understand is that it's Papa John's wife that has been running things. I work very close to the one on Dutchman's and hardly ever go. Overpriced and frankly, not that great. I had one of the worst soups there once. Worse than just opening a can of Campbells. I never seem to see that many cars in the lot either.

I'm surprised it took them that long to close!

Not really surprised it closed I have been in a couple of times while waiting for a Dr's appointment and agree it is overpriced but not a bad place to wait.

I really liked the location on Dutchman's, in terms of atmosphere. But it was pretty pricey for what it was, hence the reason I only went a few times. I can't say the menu was bad from what I tried, but wasn't outstanding either. They had a good idea, just needed more reasonable prices.

It's on the corner of Dutchman's and Dupont.

So is the Dutchmans Lane one closed or not? The article said the St. Matthews one didn't close but then the poster said it did. Does anyone know for sure?

I just called, and the guy at the Dutchmans location says they're open. "Only the location downtown is closed."

I don't believe anyone said that one closed. It was mentioned that that one plus the three in Naples were the only ones remaining.

Ah ha. I read it wrong. When I saw medical plaza my mind went to the hospital area on Dutchmans instead of the downtown location. Thanks!
