Steve's Ready to Dip

by Daniel Raines » Sun Jul 17, 2011 4:07 pm

I was at the Westport Liquor Barn yesterday and met a gentleman with samples of his cheese spread. It was called Steve's Ready to Dip. Tried several of them in the store and purchased 3 tubs (Jalapeno Beer Cheese, Pimento Cheese, Bourbon Cheese). Opened them up last night and they were fantastic. All 3 were some of the best cheese spreads I have ever had.

The Pimento cheese was not a gob of mayo with cheese, more refined and spicy and even looked delicious with seasoning mixed in I am guessing. The Bourbon cheese was a sharper tasting cheddar and I must say I love sharp cheddar. The bourbon touch was nice to it. The Jalapeno Beer Cheese was not at all coy and was nicely dotted with jalapeno bits.

In the store I tried the Pimento Cheese, Bacon Beer Cheese and the Salsa cheese and thought all were stellar, especially the bacon beer cheese. Then again bacon with anything is great. He did tell me how he made the bacon beer cheese and claimed that no bacon was used in the cheese.

Anyway, I would definitely give it a try if you are in to that sort of thing. It was a little expensive but I thought the quality was very good and am already planning a trip back to try the one with horseradish (I believe it may be the garden cheese), the Wine Cheese Dip and of course the bacon cheese.

I love to give opinions on things I like, but feel a little corny doing it but it appears to be firmly entrenched as a go to snack at least for the time being! Looks like this website sells it as well:

Good review, they all sound like choices right up my alley. I'm going to have to try them all and report back as well.

I love Steve's dips. I met Steve several years ago and have watched his company grow. I've tasted the products - they're all fantastic - and I see his commitment to quality ingredients. He's Kentucky Proud! I stopped in to see him yesterday at Liquor Barn and he's there again today. LB carries his products, and I'm glad they do because it's a great to see the variety of quality products like Ready to Dip.
