Lyndon Sonic - Closed?

by Glenn G » Wed Jul 06, 2011 10:20 pm

Drove by last night around 7:00 and again tonight around 8:00. Both times, all of the lights were off and the sign outside simply said Closed. I noticed the drive-thru menu board had been removed.

Any details?

The one on Shelbyville always has 10-15 cars waiting.

The one on Hurstbourne doesn't seem to do too bad. There was one on Preston close to Eastern Pkwy but there was never anyone there and it closed down a long time ago iirc.

The one in Springhurst seems to be busy whenever I'm out there, which isn't too often.

Actually, I don't get the hatin' on Sonic. I think they're above the median for corporate fast food. I wish they had the green chile burger in these latitudes, though.

Robin
Not to high-jack the thread but I have had some serious green chile cheeseburgers out here in Santa Fe. Bobcat Bites is the best in town. The Compound is supposed to have a realy great burger but I don't want to pony up $18 to find out. The original place to get em is in San Antonio NM at the Owl Bar. New Mexico has a "green chile cheeseburger trail" much like our beloved "bourbon trail"

Not that close to Eastern. Might have made if that had been its location. It was near Hess Lane, next to a AutoZone in a predominantly industrial wasteland. IIRC, it backed up to the railroad tracks and I-65. Not much to look at when parked and enjoying drive-in treats. Not surprised it did not make it.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

Closer to Eastern than Outer Loop. I was going for general area, but whatever....

We were there picking up some fruity drinks for the park recently and I went inside to use the facillities...

I've never seen anything quite as bad- it was as if construction was stopped and bathroom sanitation rivaled a gas station.

I can't comment on kitchen cleanliness, yet I sure didn't return.

This, of course, has no reflection on Sonic as a whole- just the franchisee. The dogs are good and the drinks are pretty fun. I love the ice they use)

All of the Sonics up here in Southern Indiana are closed except the one in Jeff.

Anyone longing for Sonic should try looking in Oklahoma City...where there are SIXTY THREE locations listed in the phone book (there are also 200+ restaurants with the word "Taco" somewhere in the name but that's food for another thread).
