Hot dog!

by Robin Garr » Mon Jul 04, 2011 10:33 am

Fourth of July, picnic day if the rains go away, and what could be more typical of the season than a good old hot dog?

Just for fun, let's do a poll, asking what kind of dog you prefer. I'll allow more than one answer just to mix things up a bit.

Also, with the closing of Conez and Coneyz, I don't have a good neighborhood spot for a gor-may dog any more. Lonnie's is an option, and the vegan dogs on the Morels food truck are surprisingly good; but help me remember, are there any other really good hot-dog vendors around?

Do we know if the Morels truck is anywhere today?

I guess I'll go check their Fb page.

It appears that @morelsfoodtruck hasn't tweeted since June 27. If you look back over their feed, they're sporadic. (I love Morels, by the way ... I am really impressed by the way Stan can make vegan dishes that taste like ... well, you know ... )

Remember we've got a Twitter list set up that should show all the tweets from the local food trucks:

Burgers, pork dogs and turkey brats (!) last night on the grill. Saved by the freshly picked grilled green beans from the garden.

I didn't know that! I do like Lonnie's, but I'd give Sonic's version a try.

I too must admit, Sonic's new line of all beef dogs are pretty darn good.

Oh, and beef all the way, baby! Hebrew Nationals if you got 'em!

Celebrating the summer bounty of Mary's garden with an Indian dish that pays homage to our nation's melting pot heritage? What could be more American than that? 8)
