Favorite Fourth of July Quote

by Gayle DeM » Mon Jul 04, 2011 10:31 am

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck

I wonder why Craig decided to drop the comma? C'mon, Craig!

You're good, Matt! I hadn't noticed the missing comma. Oops! Not exactly carved in stone but correcting typos on a tat ain't especially easy.

There's supposed to be a comma after the word "Join".

Not sure if a comma has to be after join. It reads alright without it.

It reads fine without it. In fact, it's rather strange with it (which is why I remember it). It is, however, the original and the traditional; Craig's arm must then be explained!

Oversight? Maybe. Of course, someone has probably mentioned it to him before, and it would be any easy fix.

Hatred of commas? I think that probably explains it. People don't respect commas like they used to.

Say, is there a leak in here? This thread seems to be working its way in from somewhere else ...
