Welcome to the Louisville Restaurants Forum, a civil place for the intelligent discussion of the local restaurant scene and just about any other topic related to food and drink in and around Louisville.
I know how we love Thai food on the forum so wanted to report about our dinner last night at Thai Orchids. It was delicious! Hub had the Jungle Curry and it was so yummy we finished it for breakfast this morning with our eggs. He also got the wonton soup and raved about the broth.
I had the pad thai and it was delish. The last time we had Thai food was at Thai Siam (fond memories of when it was the Thai go to place in town) and it was not good.
Thai Orchid has restored my love of Thai food! Please go, they were nearly deserted the whole time we were there, on a Friday night.
(they are located in the corner of the Stony Brook shopping center near Kroger)
I agree, a suburbs gem. I worry when we go to a restaurant that we like, and even in some cases is a popular restaurant, and it is "empty". Memorial weekend, at 8 o'clock, we basically closed up Cafe Lou Lou off Shelbyville Road. As we left we drove past Havana Rumba which was still hoppin'. Thai Orchids, please support if you are in the East End, Jeffersontown area, even if it is carryout, great food.
I live close by and eat at Thai Orchids a lot. They do a great job! They do pretty good business on the weekends but during the week, I hardly ever see any one in there.

Wish we lived closer. We've only been here twice but it was top notch and we enjoyed the food WAY better than we did at one of the more popular Thai places in town.
I'd have to agree with Steve P...Thai Orchids is our go-to Thai place. Simply Thai failed to impress and really jerked me around for 45 minutes on a to-go order, Saigon Cafe has went downhill recently (IMO), Thai Siam on B-town road is pretty solid, but I prefer Thai Orchids!
I usually get there for lunch, and they do a rather decent crowd...lots of Indian ex-pats, etc that work in and around the industrial park in J-town.
