FREE LUNCH for HotBytes gang tomorrow at AP Crafters

by Robin Garr » Thu Jun 09, 2011 5:33 pm

This one-time offer just in from Tony P. Go git 'em!

Now that we are open for lunch, I would like to offer Hotbytes "Lunch on Us" valid
tomorrow 11-2. All they need to do is show up and ask for Tim Zombek our GM, mention
Hotbytes and he will hand them a instant Lunch On Us certificate to be used the same
day. Dine- in only.

I call that a generous offer ... 8)

Well I'll be...That is the most cool gesture I've ever seen. Good on ya Tony.

Do you have to show your Hotbytes I.D or secret decoder ring or will this be open to all the "Lurkers" as well ?

Thanks Tony! We've been wanting to try AP's and this certainly provides the incentive we need. See you tomorrow!

Thanks for the generous offer Tony! I think have some catering orders to drop off in that end of town too. Perfect!

Know what would be even classier? All the Hotbyte folk identify yourself to the G.M. and then pay for your lunch. Support your local restaurateur and his staff.

Nice.

More important, perhaps: If you take the free lunch, tip your server generously based on the amount you WOULD have paid.

Haha... my boss took me to AP Crafters for lunch today... didn't see this until I got back.

Oh well, I'm always happy to have someone else support the restaurants I love.

So, who went?

by Robin Garr » Fri Jun 10, 2011 1:36 pm

Mary and I dropped by and had a good lunch, but I decided I felt kind of funny about asking for a freebie. Better to support the locals, so that's what we did. :)

The threat of isolated showers put plans for spending a fun day in the hot sun sealing the driveway in "hold" mode, so on an errand run to Lowes I made the decision to give A.P. Crafters a try. Given Tony's generous offer I was surprised not to see more Hotbyters in attendance. Mark R. and the lovely Laura came in while I was enjoying my lunch in the bar and I think (maybe) I ran into another Hotbytes couple...although they were either feeling unsociable or were in stealth mode, not sure which (perhaps it was my cologne "Ode De Yardwork" that put them off)... :?

I decided to take Mr. Vermillion's suggestion and forgo the "free" lunch opting instead for full price and a 50% tip. As this was my first visit I wanted to try a number of items and thus ordered WAY too much food. The (grilled) wings were spot on perfect...I don't know that anything can ever take the place of my beloved Rooties in this department but these were some damn fine wings none the less. The A.P. Burger was a quiet serviceable hunk of ground beef. Again, I don't know that it can supplant one or two of my other favorites in town but it IS a darn good burger...and in my case cooked to perfection (nice job in the kitchen). The fries were really good as well...crispy on the outside, very moist and soft on the inside...I'm not totally down with the seasoning but I have little doubt most people probably are.

The service....Vikki....was outstanding. Let me say this again, it was outstanding. Nice job Vikki if you're listening. Oh and the offer to provide me a refill of iced tea and a "to go" cup on my way out into 92 degrees was a VERY nice touch. The managers (two of them) each stopped by my table to make sure everything was fine. They were both unobtrusive and seemed to really care that the dining experience was pleasant.

All in all a very nice lunch experience, I'll be back for sure.

You're not talking about us, are ya? We acknowledged your presence ... ;)

I did see Brian Curl and a friend, but didn't spot any other faces I was familiar with. On the other hand, we were in right around noon and rushed through a fairly quick meal (same stuff you had, plus the pork poppers), so maybe more came in later? I know some of our folks are quick to take advantage of an unearned freebie  so I expect others came along.
