late-night nosh

Is there any place in Louisville that serves dinner or the like after 11 pm? Other than fast food, I mean....

We lost a good one with the closing of Diamante (sob!) but the downstairs lounge at Asiatique still offers lighter bites until the wee hours, as I recall.

I don't know if you consider Spinelli's fast food, but they're open most of the night, and so are Cafe 360 and Karma Cafe, although neither really wins critical acclaim.

Basically, you'll notice that we're talking about the Baxter-Bardstown strip here ...

Colleen:

They do serve booze! And they're open fairly late (I'm not sure how late, but I think at least until midnight on weekends).

I believe Ramsi's is open until 2am on weekends. Also, if you want some great beer and superb pub food, the kitchen at Cumberland Brews is open until 1am.

Ramsi's

We went last weekend after a late movie at Baxter. I called first to make sure it was open and they are indeed open until 2 a.m.! The very loud band was there playing outside on the patio. We were inside and it was still deafening.

Baxter/Bardstown or Frankfort area places are ideally sort of accessible for us. It often happens we're out pretty late of a weekend, or my husband gets in late from out of town and I meet him at the airport, and we're always casting around for places only to come up with something like the Waffle House and the like. Which is actually fine if we've been out late dancing and need a waffle or egg and bacon sandwich fix on the way home, but otherwise we're really looking for a place with decent food and some good wine. That was always easy in Chicago. Here, not at all and we get pretty frustrated.

Music's okay, so long as it doesn't hurt. Last night Gary was delayed twice and so the restaurant venue kept changing and we ended up agreeing to meet at one of the 4th street live joints, but by the 2nd delay I was finally too weary to muster any interest in wading through crowds of enthusiastically young people who'd been drinking for hours (my apologies to enthusiastically-young-people-on-a-drinking-binge everywhere) so we gave it up and stayed in.

And by the way, we happened on the Felice Vineyard salsa night a couple of weeks ago and wow what a wonderful band and nice venue for it. It's the sort of thing we've been looking for. And to our absolute delight, an Electric Cowboy has opened in Louisville. Early in the evening a great place to dance without crowds. The no-smoking ban is the best thing to happen in dance bars. And as my husband noted, the jello shots girls in chaps sans undies doesn't hurt either.

If your wasted(you'd have to be) and thinking out side the bun -or not-

Taco Hell and White Castles.

IHOP is good sometime.

There is a little place on B'boro Rd by Ewing (can't remember the name)
you can bring booze if discreet.

Steak and Shake Bardstown Rd.

and of course Waffle House there are several.

There is always the reliable Bristol. The Bardstown location is open until one am M-T and two am F&S.

We sometimes go the Bristol on b-town Rd after Actors, etc. They are not "cutting edge", but always good service and food. The other Bristols have earlier hours.

Steve, thanks for that. I'll have to start writing these down.

[And gad, I really do know how to spell "Ramsi's."]

If you don't do wasted, you probably wouldn't do the womb from the tomb at Twig & Leaf in the wee hours either. They kind of go hand in hand.
