I'm getting ready to redeem some points towards gift certificates through restaurant.com. Does anyone know if the entire balance has to be used in one visit?

Depends on who's points you are redeeming. I did that with one of my credit cards and only had to use what I wanted, but one my hotel loyalty cards i had to use all of them at one place.

Unless things are changed they aren't really gift certificates. Aren't they coupons? $25 off of a $50 purchase?

And my favorite place stopped taking them.

You have to use the entire coupon in one visit and you have to order at least the minimum. (Read the fine print.)

We honor restaurant.com @ the NA Exchange. You can buy a restaurant.com gift certificate for $25, the only stipulation is that is used for dinner only, requires a minimum purchase of $35, which excludes tax and an 18% gratuity that is added to the check before discount. It is a great opportunity to try new restaurants for a discounted rate. Hope to see you soon at the NA Exchange.

So, I ran into a bit of a snag. One of the restaurants that I wanted to redeem the majority of my points at won't allow promo points to be used for "purchasing" gift certificates. So, I called Coca-Cola (where my points came from) and they did a one time good will gesture and refunded my points. Oh well...
