Blueberry U-Pick Season

by Bill P » Sat Jun 04, 2011 7:43 am

Blueberry U-Pick season starts Monday morning.

Support our local Harrison County farmers and get some fresh air, Although, with the projected temperatures, I'd suggest an early start as there isn't much shade. I'm sure the farm is dog (leashed) friendly, but you might want to call about that first.

Not certified organic, but Dale claims he has not used chemicals for at least 5 or 6 years.

If last year is any indicator, the season should last until mid to late July. They only open on days when ripe fruit is relative abundant, so always a good idea to call ahead or consult the website.

I've been going to this farm for six years. I have never had anything but a wonderful experience there. The place is well kept. The employees are friendly. The rows are mowed and easily accessible to even my elderly parents.
Get there EARLY for the best spots. Bring your own containers or bags to put the berries in after weighing. Bring CASH since they don't do cards of any sort.

I remember doing this with grandma (she raised me) as a child. It's on my to do list this year!

Bryant's Blueberries is a great little place. My mother and I started going there many moons ago(maybe 20 years ago or more). Blueberries are a lot easier to pick than strawberries!

Just got in from our morning. Today was the first day of picking. Fields were not crowded. Blueberries (Duke) were huge and plentiful. I easily had 10lbs picked in less than 30 mins.

A picker kindly droped me off a load of blueberries, so we are offering fresh blueberry shakes. I love Bryants, they send loads of people my way for lunch :D
