The new and improved Flabby's

by Jesse Hendrix-Inman » Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:48 am

For those who have not heard, Flabby's has reopened in Schnitzelburg and it's looking great. There is a fresh coat of paint on the walls and the air conditioning is working again, but all the old memorabilia is where it belongs in the dining room. Best of all, they have cleaned up their patio and are using it for outdoor dining.

They are still experimenting with the menu, tweaking it based on customer feedback. The fried chicken, oyster shooters and fried green tomatoes are delicious again. Among their new offerings are fried pickles and gyros. the gyros are small, and they give you the option of ordering one or two (or more, I suppose), which I like because one huge gyro is usually too much for me. It's not like they have the meat roasting on a spit in the back, but I found it very flavorful and dressed with a good amount of veggies and sauce. The cucumber salad is very good with it.

The ovners are great. they are friendly and happy to see every customer.

Robin, I did not try the rolled oyster, but I noticed a post by Flabby's on the Germantown-Schnitzelburg Facbook page that said they had improved them since reopening, adding more oysters per piece. I get the impression that they are really taking the time to listen to their customers and modify the food based on thier feedback.

I haven't been to Flabby's since it was the "old" Flabby's.

Still worth a visit?

So when do they break out the hookahs?

...I have not been in in a while but I had a fried fish sandwich at the Schnitzelburg Walk this summer that was very good-surprisingly good considering they were having to produce them in huge quatities for the crowd. I've heard positive chatter about their fried pickles and burgers more recently.
