Restaurants in Bardstown, Mt. Wash., Shephersdville area

by NDDuncan » Wed Jun 01, 2011 10:14 pm

I want to give a gift certificate to a couple for a shower gift - they LOVE to eat out. They live in Bardstown, and these days they need a GAS gift certificate to come to Louisville just to dine!

I'm not really familiar with the nicer restaurants in Bardstown, Mt. Washington & Shepherdsville - ethnic is also fine - they love to try new things. Anyone out there have suggestions?

Cattlemans Steakhouse in Shepardsville is really good we have been there twice for lunch...love their salad bar and the last time I had a small steak to go with it and it was great. It has been open about 3 months.

Hi Nancy! I believe there is a winery-Forest Edge located right across from the Forest Entrance. 502.531.9610.

I live in Bardstown, work in Louisville. Not many good places to eat there, unfortunately. Most of them have the "country home cooking" theme. Kurtz has great fried chicken. New place called Circa is supposed to be decent.

I go to Bardstown to eat at Kreso's at least once a year. I can't say anything about most of their food because all I ever order is one of the varied schnitzels and they are dellish!

My Facebook friends out in Nelson County are reporting on a new restaurant that just opened in the past month: Bourbon City Bistro.

Their bourbon glazed ribeye is getting raves.

For those familiar with Bardstown, it's in the former location of BJ's.

From my own perspective, I absolutely LOVE Ginger Tea House in Mt. Washington. The Chinese food is excellent, and the fruit teas (especially the mango) are wonderful (and addictive). Their pork spring rolls are fabulous (and I generally HATE pork in my spring rolls). These taste like scratch made.

I don't know if they offer gift certificates though. I never thought to look.

Since I hate shopping at the Fern Creek Kroger so much, I've taken to shopping at the new one in Mt. Washington, and I will usually stop at Ginger Tea House for a meal.

In the true Louisville tradition, Ginger is located in the old KFC location on Old Bardstown Road.

Took the wife and kids there. Took and hour and half for us to get our food. When we got it we all thought "meh".... nothing to write home about...especially for the money. Seems to be EXACTLY like BJ's (another place in town), except with way slower service.
