customer ... "Please give me some extra au jus and also more dipping broth. Thanks"

You would be surprised to know some of the top tier restaurants that have bags/boxes of au jus and other sauces and mixes in the kitchen.

That's why a manhattan is called a manhattan, a gibson is called a gibson, and cosmopolitan is called a cosmopolitan. None of them are martinis. I never understood that.

Why not call a place a "margarita bar" and serve whiskey sours and sangria?

I think a bar that is going to focus on a lot of different kinds of cocktails that are shaken and served up, would be more accurately called a cocktail lounge.

If they start adding flavors to my Manhattans they're going to get in real trouble! LOL It seems like now days also anything can get away being called a Martini as long as it's served in the traditional martini glass. The meaning of martini has certainly been changed from the old times. Of course I guess bartenders just don't want to be original enough to come up with a variety of names for their drinks and they can attract more attention with the name Martini.

Gosh, I had no idea our little name change would cause such a ruckus! Thank you very much, Robin, for posting our new information. We are all very excited for the change & for our new menus. We really feel the new name reflects what we have grown into over the past few years.

I will be announcing a special offer for our fellow forumites within the next couple of weeks, so please keep your eyes out!

And Ron, please come by soon and let me buy you a Martini.

Regards,

Les, I'd love to, if for no other reason than to find out if you are the Les Pollitt that I know from childhood.

but, if you put anything other than olives and vermouth in my martini . . .
