DIY Progressive Birthday Dinner

by Brad Keeton » Tue May 24, 2011 10:09 am

I'm turning the big 3-0 next month, and playing off the discussion here (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15443), am contemplating doing a progressive dinner of 3-4 restaurants, either along Frankfort Avenue, or East Market/Downtown.

How should I structure it? What restaurants? How much time at each restaurant? Should we make reservations (it will likely be a group of 10-15)? Notify each restaurant that we'll only be staying for one course and a drink? Any and all suggestions are welcome.

I've tried it a few times and never accomplish what I wanted to do. We usually have too much to eat or drink or too much fun at the first place and struggle to get to stop #2 and usually fail to make #3. I'd suggest committing to 2 places and just doing it up really good at them. Maybe dinner and drinks at #1 and after dinner drinks and dessert at #2.

Bourbon's or Basa for dinner
Volare, Lou Lou, or Jack's for dessert

732 Social for dinner
Blind Pig for dessert

Here's what I recommend; I'd set up a custom (private) tour with City Taste tours. http://www.citytastetours.com/Home/tabi ... fault.aspx
You won't have to worry about driving, everyone in different cars, etc.
Now, I haven't been on one of these tours yet, but I've read lots of reviews, and it sounds FUN!
