Opening by the end of August sounds like an aggressive schedule. We've restored a couple of smallish buildings, and neither were in quite as bad condition as the old house.

The original plans called for the new ice cream store to go into the old Ginny's Diner building. But the plans have changed and the dinner will be bulldozed in a couple of days to make room for parking.

Bulldoze a Louisville institution to make room for an ice cream shop parking lot, but couldn't bulldoze the historic house. I just don't get it.

Probably because the house does not have a 4 inch layer of grease and grime in it. We quit going there because of the level of just plain dirt in there. The fish tank was disgusting and have no idea how the guy passed a health inspection.

Ill add to the horse beating...Annie and I only went in there once. We walked out after about two minutes, maybe less. The one thing I can remember about the place was the nasty fish tank situation. Never understood the "Louisville institution" thinking.
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

It was one of the older and most well known restaurants in the city. Ten years ago the place was pretty good.

I've lived here my whole life and never knew it had "institution" status. For me and others I know, it seems like much of its notoriety came from those creepy commercials with the mustachioed man in a diaper squealing "Mmmmm Good!" about the food.

Yeah, my last review was long enough ago that it's no longer online, but it was still pretty good then - maybe 10 years ago. I think it started slipping in the last few years.

I was thinking the same thing. They certainly were aggressive in starting the work considering they only closed Friday and there was a lot of work going on yesterday but......

Which Hotbytes Commissariat conveys institution status? I want to appeal the ruling.

We went a few years ago. We were starving, and the food looked great. My husband took a HUGE bite of what looked to be a good, juicy burger, only to discover that it was completely RAW on the inside. He literally turned green. The waitress' reply? "Well you ordered it rare!" Needless to say, we never went back.
