Ft Walton Beach Area

by Terry G » Sat May 14, 2011 10:14 am

Leaving today for a week at Grayton Beach and looking for good food and hospitality in the Ft Walton area. I am aware that this destination is popular with the Louisville spring break crowd. Any suggestions appreciated. Tia, Terry

Terry,

We always make a trip to the Red Bar while we are in Sandestin. It's in Santa Rosa. Very casual, funky- the food is very good.

There is a great gourmet food store in downtown Seaside. We love to pick up picnic and cooking ingredients there and walk aroung the Village.

Enjoy-

It's been a few years since we visited Fort Walton Beach, but we loved Old Bay Steamer on Santa Rosa Blvd. I could not find a website for them, but here is something on Trip TripAdvisor.

I second The Red Barn. Picolo's is owned by the same family and is also a great choice.

Grayton Beach. Have a sticker on my car :D
There are so many new restaurants open on 30A now. We almost forget to go to the beach.
The Red Bar opened a second restaurant on 98, called Louie Louie's. Similar decor and menu - crab cakes everynight - not just Friday and Saturday. If you can't find a parking spot at Grayton, go there.
(Moe's - Bud & Alley's famous bartendar - wife works there. Restaurant power couple we were told.)
Cafe 30A is wonderful. From 5:00 to 6:00, two entrees for the price of one.
George's and La Cocino are owned by the Seagrove Market folks. George's is excellent.
Went to Stinky's for dinner and to its sister/brother Liar's Club for breakfast. Yummy again.
Biggest surprise might be Gravel Road that moved past Seagrove, on the north side of 30A. Wonderful menu.
Another Broken Egg is a lot like our Wild Eggs.
Fish out of Water at Watercolor has a beautiful view and great breakfast. Haven't been for dinner.
Still have Hibiscus on my list.
Want to return to Smiling Fish at Blue Mountain.
Shocking new restaurant at the corner of 30A and 395. Almost too sleek for 30A. Expensive.
The Beach Club at Blue Mountain changed recently. New name. Beach view again.
We'll be going back in June. Can't wait. Love 30A.
Oh, and also, say high to Larry at Secrest Sundries. He and his family moved down there from Louisville a few years a go.
