Las Gorditas, Dakshin, now Cuban Cafateria ?

by Brian Curl » Wed May 11, 2011 11:01 am

Coming this month according to the owner.

Located at the former....

Master's International Coffee
4806 Bardstown Road
Louisville, Kentucky 40291

It a small building so I'm sure gearing toward take out is the idea. Cuban fast sounds good . . .

I wish them the best, but that location is cursed.

Tiny and very plain, set back off the road just enough so that your eyes are clouded by the enormity of Walgreens, etc. They are really going to have to work to succeed in that little black hole of a spot.

As a follow up (and it may be nothing) - I drove by there tonight on my way home from dinner and the former coffee place was dark and appeared untouched. There was, however, quite a bit of cleaning and related activity in the space where Mi Preferida used to be on the left end of the Eastland shopping center.

You may need to look closer as I have been in the parking lot and saw the equipment inside the store and saw them power washing preparing for paint for the last two days. . . And have talked to the owner.

Agree it has been a difficult location and it is small, but ethnic eateries seem to get a good following especially if they cater to natives with authentic food (ie Las Gorditas, Dakshin) The market will go to them.

The cafeteria style (and take out) that they described is really the only option for that place as it is so small...

Was probably just the timing then - the place was dark and still looked beat up on the outside, but I haven't really had a reason to look at the place in years, so it could have been an improvement.

Hopefully they promote it well and put up a decent sign. Between the glare of Walgreens and the 20-year running 'Jaccuzi available' sign at the sketchy motel next door, they will need something to make them stand out to passers by.
