Selena's to host Dine for the Tide - Tornado Relief

by Chris G » Thu May 05, 2011 4:15 pm

Selena's at Willow Lake Tavern presents Dine for the Tide, Tuesday May 10th 5:00 - 10:00 PM. Live music on the patio by $ocial $ekurity, raffle and/or auction. A percentage of the night's sales will be donated to UA Acts of Kindness Fund as well as 100% of raffe/auction proceeds.

As many of you know, my daughter Gabrielle is a second year student at University of Alabama. The devistation she describes is heartbreaking. A good portion of Tuscaloosa has been severly damaged and many BAMA faculty and students displaced due to the storm. The Acts of Kindness fund was established by the university to assist with tornado relief. More information on the fund can be found at http://www.ua.edu/tornadorelief

Gabby will be be on hand for the event if any one wants to make a donation directly to the fund. Join us for dinner, a drink and a percentage of your bill will be sent to the fund. Bring your friends and your checkbooks and make a contribution. Good food, good fun and a good cause all in one night.

Gift cards donated to date are as follows:
Havana Rumba
Cafe Lou Lou's
Del Frisco's
DiOrios Pizza
Blue Fin Seafood
GFS Marketplace
Mattingly Meats - box of steaks
Diva's
Paul Mitchell Hair School

Additional items are being collected as we speak. Anyone on the forum interested in making a donation please email Chris at chris@selenasrestaurant.com

Just thought I would "bump" this! We were there today and they have lots going on tomorrow night--band, silent auction, etc. Let's support this very worthy cause.

What a great evening and turn out to support the cause. It was certainly one of the biggest crowds we see on a weeknight at Selena's and everybody came with open wallets! When we left about 10:00 the total was about $2500 not including the 20% that Selena's was going to contribute. The crowd from Hotbytes was well represented. Of course as usual Alan and Chris were great hosts and the food was great!

Awesome evening...Chris, Maria, Alan...The whole gang at Selenas had it going on last night. In addition to raising a bunch of money for a great cause, the kitchen was putting out some excellent dishes last night. The shrimp and lobster pasta they had on special was "Rock Star" caliber and the bacon wrapped beef tenderloin was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. NICE...very nice.

As everyone has said, last evening was fabulous at Selena's! The atmosphere was very festive and the food and service outstanding. The grouper with their famous manale (sp?) sauce was out of this world. So happy that it was successful for a very worthy cause-- all the hard work in organizing this was certainly apparent. And I do love my "Roll Tide" Woodford Reserve!

I won the Weber Grill in the silent auction...It's not as good as upping ones cylinder index via the purchase of additional machinery operated by internal combustion engines but from a "guy" perspective, it WAS a major score.

Just wanted to say Thank You to all who made this such a huge success.....
Was great to see the LHB crowd well represented. This was put together on very short notice during Oaks/Derby/Mothers Day weekend, and I wasn't sure of the turnout. We had some great gifts donated, and an enthusiastic crowd of bidders, Which together combined for a total raised of just over $4000 for the UA Acts of Kindness Tornado relief fund. Gabby is taking the proceeds back to Tuscaloosa the first of the week and can't wait to see how the cleanup is going. Thanks again for all the support, it is a great feeling to know when someone needs help others are their to pitch in.
