Best Bourbon Balls?

by Melissa Richards-Person » Mon Apr 18, 2011 1:35 pm

I'm pulling together a "goodie basket" for our Derby houseguests, and I thought I'd solicit the forum's opinion of what the best bourbon balls are in town to include. Personally, I actually most liked the ones produced by one of the bourbon brands (not Maker's or Woodford) - I like the fondant-y center and a half pecan on top.

So, any thoughts or opinions?

Leah's right on. We've been on many a bourbon trail and Happy Balls are the best by FAR!

Woodford Reserve, Rebecca Ruth, and Happy Balls are all good...minor variations in taste and style IMO.

I had a very good Bourbon Ball (truffle) at Ghyslain tonight. They were just sitting there so I had to test one for you.

Might also want to try another local Louisville bourbon ball company:

I can vouch that they're addicting!

Well, that's one I've never heard of. Do you know if they are licensed by the HD to sell food product?

Yup, they sure are. They use an approved kitchen locally and are registered as food producers. Local couple, good people with a better than average handle on all things Bourbon!

You might consider throwing in some Bourbon Jelly.
