Somebody in Louisville Make This Happen!

by RichardM » Thu Apr 14, 2011 11:43 pm

Robin? Steven? Jackie?

Somebody in Louisville make this happen: They Gather Secretly at Night, & Then They (Shhh!) Eat http://nyti.ms/g5OsIg

If Louisville wants to get into the 21st Century then one of the foodies on here needs to make this happen.

I know a guy who sells steaks out of a freezer in the back of his truck, does that count!?

I'm pretty sure he's dodging all kinds of permits and health department regulations as well.

You could do it right after the kick-ball tournament or the hide & seek invitational. Maybe throw in a Barista Olympics and a mustache party to cover all the bases.

Here, where the food rave — call it a crave — was born, the market organizers sidestep city health inspections by operating as a private club, requiring that participants become “members” (free) and sign a disclaimer noting that food might not be prepared in a space that has been inspected.

Lame.

If you are going to be underground, be underground. No "organizers" or "members" or "disclaimers".

This follows "Keep Louisville Weird" motto that's become plastered all over t-shirts and cars.

I am officially old. The only word I recognized in that was "seitan."

My friend in Miami sent this via her blog Thursday:
In Miami the latest and greatest place to get local food is at the Food Truck "Meet-Up's". Six to 10 mobile gourmet food trucks find an empty lot, throw out a couple picnic tables, advertise their whereabouts on Social Media and hope that people show up. WOW! Did they ever.

There are now over 12 Meet-Up's per week in the region, and it is delicious. The night Chris and I went, we got a chance to eat local fish sandwiches, upscale grilled cheese, Southern BBQ brisket and of course dessert from the aptly named truck "Sugar Rush". I was enjoying some mini-cupcakes but it was Chris who did us all proud with his Krispy Crème bread pudding! Thankfully the portion was small...

Could be cool. Esp. a night time farmers' market.

Not yet but I'm well on my way...Haven't washed my hair in a week now (the greasy cow licks are really starting to come in) and just wait until you check out my new tatts. I've also been working diligently on my (illegally downloaded) "Indie" and EMO music library. Shouldn't be long now...
