A brief homage to Louisville and all the food

by Adam C » Wed Apr 13, 2011 2:40 pm

My former co-worker asked me the other day where he should go out to eat with his fiancee. His favorite restaurant was... The Cheesecake Factory and he had no idea about all the incredible local choices. He looked at me stunned when I began running off places to try.

Go here for this no wait, try the wine here, wait the steak here is the best around, oh a sandwich? Go here. Pizza? go here, here, here, here, and here. Here they have only local organic, here is Spanish (no it is not Mexican), here is Asian, Thai, French, Colombian, Italian, Mexican, Cuban, German... The atmosphere is great here, here is a great date place, oh you want to spend your entire paycheck? Go here. You like dessert? Gotta go here.. On and on and on.. At the end I was kinda overwhelmed.

My point? We are blessed. This town has so many options you could probably eat at a different place every night and leave stunned by the awesome each time.

I dunno maybe I just wanted to say thank you to all the creative folks who make it happen and everyone out there who supports pleasure and a good time. Louisville is truly a hotbed for food and I dig it. Cheers!

Great shout-out Adam! We are truly blessed here in the 'Ville. Living on Frankfort Ave., it's hard to tear ourselves away from the wonderful restaurants within walking distance (Varanese, Caffe Classico, Porcini, El Mundo, North End, Clifton's Pizza), but when we do, we have sooo many others to choose from! And, it's sad to hear that there are lots of people living here like your former co-worker who list their favorite restaurant as one of the chains! That's just sad. :(
When in doubt, add more wine.

Nice post. A lot of thanks to Robin and the forumites as well. Getting the word out about these local places is made a thousand times easier by having a central location for the foodies to share and I imagine it's helped their businesses. I know it made a world of difference for me when I was still living there and even now I have a list of places to try when I get back down there for a visit! I may have eventually stumbled on some of the local spots, but we likely would have stuck to a lot of chain food since that's what we found closest to our home and knew.
