Heimerdingers Founders Day celebrating 150 years! !

by Dan Thomas » Mon Apr 11, 2011 7:47 pm

Via e-mail.....

The 4th month of our 150 year celebration is here.

According to the Heimerdinger family tree, our founder, August E Heimerdinger was born on April 17th, 1831. To celebrate his Birthday, we are having the Heimerdinger Founders Day Celebration. Not only will we be continuing the celebrating for the founding of the Heimerdinger lineage in cutlery, but also August's 180th birthday. August was born in Goppingen Germany, which is just north west of Stuttgart. He emigrated around the mid 1850's, and was married in Franklin County Indiana on April 5, 1857.

The dates of our Founders Day celebration will be Thursday thru Saturday, April 14th through the 16th. We of course will have special goodies to eat, and if you visit our store on those three days, we will be having a special drawing for an actual Heimerdinger Grass Shear. Yes, we manufactured grass shears as well as other garden hand tools such as pruning shears and hedge shears. This was after we had first produced sewing scissors and butcher knives. So be sure to stop in on one of those three days to get you name in this special drawing. We will also have our special Heimerdinger historical items displayed.
In addition, be sure to visit our in-door "Easter garden" display and pick an 'egg' when making a purchase. Depending on the 'egg' chosen, a special prize will be waiting just for you. Extra discounts, free merchandise, buy one/get one specials, and coupons will abound.
On-line customers, please enter "Pick an Egg" in your order comments box for your special prize.

Upcoming celebration events:
The "big cheese" event
Another 'founders' birthday in June
T-shirt design competition for our fall celebration (get your pencils ready)
Special call for past Heimerdinger give-aways (pens, scrapers, etc.), so be watching and digging.
Possible Heimerdigner on-the-road events?
And, of course, our week long celebration in September, with possible special guests and participants.

Glenna and I wish to thank all of our loyal customers for your patronage. We would also like to ask if you would consider forwarding this newsletter to your friends, particularly someone maybe new to the community, not familiar with our services and products. We thank you in advance.

Please note, Heimerdinger Cutlery will be closed on Derby Day, May 7th.
